6 1/2" vs 5 1/4" vs 6x9

My rear doors are designed for 6 1/2" shallow mounts, my options are shallow mount 6.5s, 6.5s with spacers, 5.25s with an adapter, or get creative with a saw and/possibly a spacer to fit whatever I want. What would you do? I'm leaning towards the 6.5" coxials. The budget is ~ $100-150 for the rear doors.

6.5s with spacers provided you have the room, component set if you have room for the tweeter. Go with a 5.25 if nothing fits
I could use a hole saw and make room for tweaters, 6.5s will fit with a spacer. Are 6.5"s the best speaker for the money, because I have no fear in modifying the door/door panel?

Most component sets will have tweeter mounting kits where you can screw the mounts to sail panels or B-pillars having them on axis facing directly towards people's ears for much better soundstage. For shallow mounts, i'd recommend alpine type R, the new NEO motor design components, they are very shallow due to that small but very powerful motor design. Most other shallow speakers lack midbass and overall sound quality.

However for rears, i'd say just stick with coaxial, it'll make your life a lot easier. Its not like it'll help the overall SQ much, its just gonna mainly affect your passengers.
