6 1/2 Components or 6x9 coax's in the front door?

Ok i have a 98 dodge ram ext cab and i am toying with the idea of getting a new front stage. The doors have 6x9 cutouts stock. Where would i see the best SQ, 6x9 coax's in the front? or a 6 1/2 component system in the front?

I would say 6.5s. My Titan is the same way with 6x9s upfront but I made some mdf adapters and now I have some 6.5 CDT comps up front.

I have to agree with that, but the SQ of a 6.5 comp sounds better IMO.

even more when the door is all properly sound deadend and sealed off..

i could have sworn i saw a 6x9 comp set.. i think that would sound pretty good imo.

but yea i would make a baffle for a 6.5 comp set.

I think I have seen some good reviews on thoses 6x9s.

the beefy one next to it is one of DD's 6x9 from their componet set that is no longer made...I had the DD's in the doors of my Tacoma...and Tundra

I would go with the 6.5", not only will you have plenty more comps to choose from but they will sound better as well.

The Image Dynamics 6x9 components are some of the most highly regarded mid priced component sets out there. Saying that 6.5s will sound better is ignorant at best. There aren't a lot of 6x9 comps sets on the market, but all the ones I know of are very good.

My truck has 6x9 cutouts in the front doors as well and I am using them to mount a 6x9 midbass and then putting a 3" mid and tweet in the a-pillar.

i'd go with the 6x9s thats what i have all over my caddy....type-r 694a's up front and they sound so loud and clean.

I would check into those ID's for sure. They sound very smooth and detailed without being harsh. Buddy has the OEM's in his doors 6.5 and the 6x9's in the back. Very nice set and not overly priced. That is what I would do.
