word around town is if you round off the edges for the sub hole it can get .5DB louder....like once you cut the hole, you round off the edges within the hole. is that a myth or is it true?

You dont want air flow in that area and a correctly cut hole shouldnt intrude on the airflow.

like tommy said, you may be able to squeeze out a tenth, but to gain 0.5db from a roundover-style sub cutout, that shit is shenanigans.

do these people mean rounding over the inside of the woofer hole in a thick wall? if so then its possible,,do they mean rounding over the outer diameter of a below flush mounted sub so that the air moving from the cone has a smooth transistion,then id have to say maybe also

yes i had someone do a box for me and htey did it on the sub cutout and the aeros cutouts and i had air leaks on every cutout.
