535 or 870

Hello erryone,

I am going to be buying a shotgun in the next week or two here and I am slightly torn on which shotgun to aquire. I was originally going to get the Benelli M2 or M4, but I think I want to go with a pump action vs semi-auto right now.

My two main choices right now are the Mossberg 535 Tactical, and the Remington 870 Express Magnum.

Both guns can take up to 3 1/2 inch shells which is a very big WANT in my book.

Let me know if you guys have any experience or thoughts on either of these guns!

very good points @T\.I\.K ; I'm glad you brought them up, you have greatly influenced my choice.

I like bewbs

Home defense, Zombie Apocolyps, target shooting. Not for hunting at all, I have all the hunting guns I need haha.

Yeah i've held both models numerous times, and shot an 870 express 100's of times, was just seeing if anyone had anything to suggest or offer up as advice. They're both pretty much the samething, and being pump action there is a lot less chance of FTF or FTL issues.

my dad has a remington, I have had both,my brother in law has a mossberg good freind has mossberg mt father in law has both. all are good guns. we all use them for the same purpose as you want your for. some skeet and plinkering. brother in law and father in law hunt with theirs. none of us has had any complaints. go for best deal. buy used if you can- keep big brothers eye off you.

haha that's kinda how I figured it would be, lots of people have both of those guns. I was looking at a really nice (slightly older) Browning BPS used but I want a more tactical style shotty now.

Wish I could find something as a private sale and keep big bro out, but I will probably end up buying it (new or used) at the local Gander mtn or scheels.

Remington.
Any specific reasoning? Or just preference?

What about a Remington 11-87, semi-auto for around the same price. I feel that a cheaper (compared to an M2 or M4) semi-auto is just asking for FTF and FTL issues.

Why are you comparing a magnum to non?
Don't get the express, get a regular 870.

The express feels cheap.
What do you mean? I was unaware you could get a regular 870 in Magnum, I really want to be able to shoot 3.5" shells.

I'm at work and probably shouldn't be looking at guns online, if you could elaborate that'd be kick-***
