50.4 or 100.4 Sundown for 60rms Speakers

get his 50.4. good guy and it'd be perfect for 60rms speakers.
direct Quote from jacob on sundown's ssa forum:

"SAX-50.4 is plenty... those are rated 60 RMS and the 50.4 can do over 60 per channel. "
True True..

I'm running 2 50.4s right now ^_^.. getting 2 3000ds.

the sae-1000d has a small footprint if you decide to try it over a saz-1000d, unsure on the saz-1000d size.

Since there seems to be a Sundown jerk-a-thon going on here, I figured I will ask a question. HAS Sundown addressed the noise issues associated with their various 4 and 2 channel models traditionally used to power high frequency drivers? At one of the last MECA events a couple of guys running Sundown in the SQL class were docked for noise issues.

Noise issue... ???

Please do tell....

sorta like the sound of a blank cassette ???
That is what I am talking about. Also, make sure you are testing it with true digital silence from a reputable source like The Sheffield Labs or Autosound series of discs. The reason I say that is because a good bit of today's artists still use analog equipment. As a result their music will contain noise that will get amplified.

It could be worse though because a certain brand of "old school" amplifier that I used to think highly of exhibited that hiss sound with oscillation in it. The nut huggers of that brand said that there had to be a problem with my setup, even though none of my other amplifiers produced that weird sound. Hell, I even sent one off for repair, and it came back making MORE noise than before the repair.

unsure on the noise issues, didn't know anything about it. Figured all the talk about sundown in this thread is from the title asking about sundown though lol.

I honestly don't know anyone in my area that runs sundown for SQ, we have state finals tomorrow - I will see if anyone has them so I can listen for myself.

This is kind of what I'm thinking of as well... I am sure that the hardcore sound quality guys that hit all the competition circuits would definately know more than us regular folks.

Let us know what you find out.

I didn't think sundown amps were used in SQ comps. They're nice but I always assumed that the true SQ guys turned to brands like sinfoni, old school soundstream, or focal and the like.

As for the noise issue I have an older SAX 100.4 right now and I've never heard it before except on tracks with really crappy bitrates (like 96mbps or lower). I've also never used any other speaker amp, so maybe I just assume mine is great because i never have any problems with it.

Granted these amps aren't the best, but they're better than most, no?

It's not something that the normal person would hear as poor SQ though is it?

For the price, I would take a Clarion APX 4 channel amplifier over a Sundown 4 channel. The only way I would consider Sundown for my mids and highs would be if I was running a Sundown subwoofer amplifier and cared about matching. I drive trunk cars so I rarely see my amplifiers and matching is the last thing on my mind.

Then again, I probably go against the grain here at ca.com. I prefer to spend more money on the musical reproduction drivers and amplifiers, i.e. the mids and highs, while going cheap on the subwoofer where less than 10% of the "musical" content lies. It is real tough trying to get the best "bang for your buck" in the realm of car audio.

Set the voltage to 20 volts via DMM and it will equal out to around 100 watts. https://www.the12volt.com/ohm/ohms-law-calculators.asp#voltage
