Hi Car Audio Members,
I am upgrading my 1991 Honda Accord SE (50K mileage) and it currently has the original OEM BOSE car receiver no CD player. I am the original owner.
I am going upgrade the headunit to: Kenwood KVT 512 with GPS. This unit has RMS of 22 watts and 50X4 max watts.
I purchased on Ebay a 10" box Kicker circular subwoofer and box. The listing show that subwoofer has a RMS of 300 watts. I think it is 2 Ohms but not sure.
I am thinking about upgrading the front speakers to the Alpine SPX-17Pro (100RMS) first choice; or SPX-17REF(75RMS) components. Suggestions?
The rear will be a set of Alpine 6X9s(100RMS?) - no selection has been decided up and would like suggestions?
The amps I am deciding upon are:
Alpine PDX-5
NEW HIFONICS ZXI 8006 740W 5CH CAR AMPLIFIER ZXI8006
DEI D2205.5 Amp. (Directed)
Rockford Fosgate Power 1000 "Limited 25th Anniversary Edition" Five Channel Car Stereo Amplifier
Most of the higher quality amps are between 70-80 watts RMS and I know that they go over the listing on the test sheet.
I need to upgrade the Alternator and just purchase a 170 amp new alternator on Ebay and all the wiring from the alternator to the battery and ground will be purchased in town.
I will be buying a deep cycle battery at Costco. Current Alternator generates 80 amps, however and limit is 600 watts.
After the upgrade; I will be good for 2000 watts system!
Well that the story.
Alternatively I thought also about buying two amps. 100X4 RMS and Mono 500 RMS. But it would be $300 more if I went with the ALpine PDXs.
Budget for the speakers and amp is $1,000.
What is your opinion on what I should do?
Thanks.
