In theory, yes. Magnet diameter makes a big difference, too. In my case I could probably fit Adire Extremis mids in my doors with a little effort, but never XXX mids, dispite the similar mounting depth.

IC. so i should measure the magnets diameter also? I think as long as the depth is ok it should be fine because theres a decent amount of space to the sides.

and your supposed to mold this onto the door? I was actually looking a the specs of my current driver Kicker RS5C, it has mounting depth of 2 7/16''. So if I find some 6.5s with the same mounting depth or less would they work?

mold what into the door? i see nothing about a mold anywhere all it is is a small frame holding the material right behind the magnet. the 5.25"s i have now out perform all the 6.5's i have had (didnt do this to them though)
