4x6 and 6x9 needed

My buddy is upgrading his stock speakers in his malibu and needs some 4x6 and 6x9's. I have tried to convience him to go with some 5.25's and 6.5's make adapters but he is totally against it. So I need both sets and they need to be matching. There is not a subwoofer and will be ran off of HU power for the time being. Are the 4x6 "plate" (tweeter with a separate round mid) speakers better than the regular coaxials? His price is $200 shipped. All help is appreciated.

4x6" do not sound all that good, are they going in the front or back?

Infinity references run great off headunit power, as they're 2 ohm stable with all headunits so they pull more power.

And a complementary infinity speaker set can be easily found.
