4V preout

I have a 4V sub pre-out on my alpine deck, does this mean I can turn the gain on my JBL 600.1 all the way to 4V?

Not exactly, turn the amps gain all the way down, and the h/u volume to 25 . listen to a cd and turn the gain up until it starts to distort. Then turn it back just a bit. This will achive maximum undistorted output.
