4th order- vs - ported box ?

hi guys,

does anybody know if the sq HDS212 would be good in a 4th order?

as im getting 4 of these, well i have 2 right now.

but going to wait for the other 2 before i build the box.

but have been thinking, will a 4th order be better?

louder? get lower ? have better band width ?

what are the pros of a 4th order?

what are the cons to 4th order?

never had a 4th order before. only sealed or ported.

is this true?

why would somebody pick a 4th over a regular ported box?

The HDS212s are decent 4th order subs. I helped a friend do a 4th with a pair of them. 2.5 sealed to 5 ported tuned to 47 in the back of an Escape, and it got decently loud on a PPI 1000.1. Played down to about 23hz, and cutoff around 51 or so. On the same power, I'd say they should get louder and lower than an optimal ported box depending on the specs of your 4th

4th orders are tricky. You either sacrifice efficiency for musicality, or you have a very efficient box, just a very tight pass band.

im not sure what i want... lol

all i know is i want the best output from these 4 12" ...

i have googled 4th order box so im doing some reading...

as i dont want to loss output .

but dont want a 1 note wander. must be good daily, good sounding and POUND... LOL

@CSCStang helped me come up with a nice ported box ( 8.8 cubs )
but have not build it yet. so figured i need to decide what i want before i wast any wood.


o and also when all said and dont i want a sq/aq 2200 amp. so ill be running these subs with that. but for now will be on my ppi 7000.
