4ohm + 8ohm parallel = 4ohm..

I was brushing up on my electronics and remembered that different resistors in a parallel circuit will always be less to the lowest resistor value in the parallel circuit, same thing with speakers wired in parallel, a 4ohm driver wired in parallel with a 8ohm driver will have a 2.7 ohm load impedance..

Let's say you have an active setup that requires a 4ohm load impedance and you want to add more tweeters but the tweeters you want are 8ohm, just wire them in parallel with the 4ohm speaker and you will have a 2.7 ohm load impedance BUT, the 4ohm speaker will be dissipating 2x as much current as the 8ohm speaker so the 8ohm speaker will be 3db lower than the 4ohm speaker and if my memory serves me correctly you would compensate for that by choosing an 8ohm driver with a sensitivity rating that is 3db higher than the 4ohm driver...

I apologize for the confusion and/or misleading title, the total resistance of different value resistors in parallel will always be less than the lowest value resistor in the circuit..
