45 volts output of clean signal different than 45 volts of clipped sgnal?

Hi guys, i would like to know what is the difference in terms of power, air cooling...that the sub sees, when we set our gains to output 45Volts of clean signal , and between 45volts of a clipped distorted signal. I guess we can no more use the formula P=V^2/R when we have a clipped signal right?

Also, how do we know at wich level the music that we are listening to is recorded at( 0 dB, -6dB...) the same music can be recorded at different dB levels or what?:S Thx

Ah, so weiter its a clean signal or not, since its the same voltage so its the same power, but due to clipping the coil will heat up more? I heard some people say that a clipped sognal is way much powerfull than a clean signal, but i guess that 45volts of clean signal=45V distorted signal ( Powerwise??). What about my dB question too:D thx

I've modified my signature slightly...

I love my system, H/U, amp, sub, and pair of shitty 6.5's. Is this considered a "system" that plays "music" o holy one?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Coming from you, I'm not sure I'd expect better.

My issue wasn't with not knowing something...after all, we all start somewhere and there are plenty of things I have no clue about...but refusal to learn something because it's too long to read is just laziness.

I read the info from thge link Squeak, so the same voltage for a pure distorted signal is twice powerfull than that same voltage outputed from a clean signal, so the formula P=v^2/R is only true for pure sine waves or AC current true?

What about the dB question guys:D thx

Yea the PIE formula assumes a clean signal. An I'm not sure if there is a way to tell at what DB a sound is recorded at but I do know that same music can be recorded at different DB levels.

Where's Jmac when you need him...
