4 TXX-AP15 vs. 1 18" BTL

4000 watts is a good number, it sure can handle more, but from what I have heard you will definately be bumping. If you are going for daily loud factor then the 15's will most likely pull better numbers in the lower hz section, but if you ever are planning on competing 1 18" will put you in an easier class than 4 15's would. I took 4 15's over an 18" Btl, I mainly did it because i have the room and I'm sure I can get it to be loud.
I have 2 of those 15s like you got in my trunk right now. They are for sale in the classifieds too.

Here's what I'm not sure your getting, it's all about install. You're seeing it as 4

15's vs 1 18 or whatever. The thing is, that almost doesnt' matter for the most part, especially outside of "pro" installs. In all actuality, heres what you have

4 15's in a wall, with decent power on them vs 1 highly capable sub in a perfectly specced box being pushed with at least moderate wattage. So honestly, your better off using less subs, especially since you don't have gobs of power to deal with (2k isnt' that much for what your looking for SPL wise) I'd try the BTL if I was you, if you do things right you'll be quite loud with a much better wow factor. Kids dont' get mad when they get "out hit" by someone with 2x as manys subs that are larger. However 1/2 the subs of the same size drownign their stuff out is likely to get a reaction.

I agree with the Audioque suggestion. A single HD3 12 ported with a good amount of power kills for a daily setup. A guy here in Z-Ville had one, 4.5 ported tuned to 32 hertz off of an Opti1000D, and it was **** loud, probably low 40's on a TL with tones, and that's with a crappy electrical system and 2 amps in a T-Bird. It was one of the louder setups in town. The only two that would stomp him around here are SJ's Suburban (4 15's ported, about 4kw total) and Anthony's Cirrus (6 13w7's walled, 6 1000/1's).

Give AQ a call, I doubt you'd regret it one bit.

x2 that would be a pretty nice setup...

anyways, if u want to impress people, go for a good single 12 or 15 and (Q, HD3, etc...) and give it a couple grand of watts...

would you be more impressed with a full blown turbo car that does 10's or a N/A version of the same car that does 11's?

i don't know about you but i'm daym way more impressed with the N/A car...hopefully you get the comparison

whatever happened with those orions in that sealed box you wanted to port?
with the power you have that might be a better choice, if done right should get quite loud.
Actually, they are in my car right now. I went out and got a stick of 6"pvc and used that for my ports. 2 at about 18" long = ~32. I got that box facing the subs into the car and the ports coming out the back by the driver side wheel well. Took up every inch of space that I could. Designed it so I could still keep the back seat in there when I needed it. I mounted the amp on the back of the box kuz that is the only lick of room left in my trunk right now.

I actually bought a amp from a kid locally for really cheap. Plenty of power for those subs. The Visonik is way to powerful I am afraid.

It is real loud, but I got a bad habit of wanting more that I already got. Expensive habit.
