i wanna do somethin different so i was lookin at two different set ups....which one do u think is better sq and spl wise???

4 adire audio tempest 15s run off of 2 RE 35.1d's

or

2 blueprint series o3 18s run off of 2 RE 35.1d's or 2 jbl 1200.1's

i think that the tempest win both sq and spl. those 18"s arent meant for sq, and the site doesnt even recomend a sealed box.. they will hit extremely hard but 4 15"s is really loud to. thats what i think.

Okay first thing. You can have excellent SQ from other enclosures than sealed. With that being said. Back to the original question. You are talking about some humongous enclosures. Just not to long ago I was faced with a decision of 1 RE 18 or 2 Blueprint 18's. The kid that was looking into this wanted the 2 18's. He drives a 89 Bronco 2, Space became the issue, then SQ became a issue. He is still in decision limbo, but id suggest 4 15's, though it is awesome to open you trunk and have people feast their eyes on 2 18's.

you're talking about putting 4 15" or 2 18" subs in, and you're worried about SQ?

15 and 18 inch drivers will hit lower notes than their 12" and 10" counterparts, but the larger, heavier cone will cause you to lose some response, especially in the upper end (60-100hz). even if you set your crossover to cut off at that point, it won't be as accurate response as you'd get with a 10 or 12. bottom line: if you want bass that will split your head open, you've got the right idea. if you want SQ, maybe 4 15's isn't a great idea......

one 15: definatly

two 15's: probably

three 15's: if you try really hard

four 15's: i doubt it

i don't know really, it just seems that sound quality wouldn't be your main objective when you're talking about that many drivers of that size.....
