4 RE 8's vs. 2 PG ti10d's

The 4 8" will have more surface area combined than the 2 10". So the 4 8" would be a little louder (barely tho) but the 10" will hit the lower notes better and with more effiency. for SQ I'd use the 8" because they have a little cone and would react quickly to drum notes, etc. If you listen to rap and heavy metal use the 2 10".

Personally I'd use the 10" since rap n heavy metal are my main types of music.

(1) 8 inch woofer : 50.256 SA x 4 = 201.12

(1) 10 inch woofer : 78.525 SA x 2 = 157.05

The 8's have a cone area advantage, thus a displacement advantage. You won't notice much of a difference, but the output will be geared a little more to the 8's. Also have beautiful sound quality.

Even so, the ti10d's have about 7 mm more excursion than the RE8's. One area that it does have them beat in.

Question - I've heard rumors of a sale RE's having on the 8's that it's like $33 a piece. Any truth to this? If so, that could make a significant change in my decision, dropping the price for 4 of the 8's below the price for two of the ti's.

Erm...any more opinions? I'm getting the idea the the RE's might have a few more votes because of people who blindly know and love the RE name.

Ported boxes limit excursion.....

The port acts like a passive radiator, and this also acts similar to a driver. Without the port, the air being moved inside the enclosure is useless, and just disspated or lost.

Since we aren't talking about insane wattage here, it's not really a factor.
