4 DCON-12 S4 vs 2 SKAR Audio VVX-12"

being powered by an ap15001d. which would be a better choice? i realize that the dcons are rated for 300 rms but i hear they take up to 500 pretty well. is there a clearly better choice there?also still not sure what type of enclosure i want but i know i want to build it myself also ill be buying this piece by piece over time.
