4 channels to one subwoofer

Hi everyone,

I have a 4 channel Impact HQ 50.4x amplifier

and an Audiobahn 12" AW1051T subwoofer with "Dual 4 Ohms" coils(?)

I want to use the amp to power only the sub. Can I use the 4 channels in bridge mode (to 2 channls) and connect the two channels to the dual coils?

Will that be 4 or 2 ohms load for the amp?

Sorry for the messy english!

just connect each coil to each channel of the amplifier //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
but I have 4 channels? The amp is bridgeable to 2 channels. I'm confused

if you blow it, they're out of business so g/l with warranty //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

buy a fckin sub amp. 4 ch is not meant to do that. esp that 4ch. and it will sound like 100% *******

You can do that.

When you bridge 2 channels together you will basically end up with 2 channels. Each of those will be 4 ohm stable and you can connect each coil of the sub to each bridged pair of channels.

Essentially each channel will operate at 2 ohms and you will achieve the max RMS power rating of that amp.

Make sure all channel gains are adjusted equally and you will be fine.

Awesome! You sound pretty sure about it to?

Thanks a lot!

Well the better option would be to get a mono sub amp that makes good power at 2 ohms.

But the 4ch will work just fine. I have done it. And many times I have strapped 4 mono amps to one sub and this is essentially the same thing.

If the amp has a LP X over, set it to 80hz

yep you can do it, but you will be putting out whatever that amp does at 4ohm bridges to each vc. (i'm guessing 100w x 2...?) make sure the settings on both sides of the amp are exactly the same.

in the future i would suggest considering getting a mono amp and using this one for your highs.

Looks like that amp is supposed to do 140x2 bridged. Should work fine temporarily, especially considering the sub is only 300w rms. Just try to make sure the amp's settings are as close as possible on each side.
