4 Channel Amp High Input Black Wire?

I just got a 4 channel amp that makes a buzzing noise and gets louder when I accelerate. I double check to make sure the grounds were good and they are. Then I discounted the ground wire from the high input harness and the buzz disappeared? Also, the music doesn't sound all that great. It's kind dull. Don't know if they have anything to do with each other but can anyone elaborate on what to do with the ground wire and why the music is blah.

I have a Polk 660 Amp

Alpine Type R 68's

Kicker KS 6x8's

14 gauge everywhere inbetween

the head unit is the likely cause of the poor sound. .
It's a Pioneer head unit. AVH 100DVD. It at really higher volumes it sound poor. Maybe my expectations were to high but I would think 70RMS ea would be louder

Ah, use rca's not the high level inputs.

that really make a differences?

My last car I ran high level output and cut some RCA's up to have as the input to my amp and I think it sounded better, it was on much cheaper speakers too.

I like it much better this way because I can set all the filters on my amps to off and can control it all from my head unit. But with only 4 RCA out puts one would have to share with the sub channel

So does using the high level output from the head unit no work as well because when I turn up the volume on the head unit its struggling to put out that high watt signal so it starts distorting? Would a way to solve this be turn the gain up on my amp? (It's set all the way down as of now)

you hadn't listed having a sub amp yet. regardless, i would take a clean signal over head unit control. i would combine the sub and fronts on the front output so you can use your fader (you should be fading to front anyway). use the crossovers on the amp until you get a head unit with 6 channel outputs.
