4 batcap 800s vs 1 pm d3100

you sturrin at me brah?
i'm still getting some heavy voltage drops just running the 2 batteries. i can get 4 batcap 800s in about the same space as my 1 d3100 under my back seat.

how would these 2 battery setups compare/contrast? would i be more likely to get a better gain by changing my yellowtop g34 up front to a batcap 2000?

Wow, PowerMaster says that the D3100 can support 5kwrms.... Seems like maybe they are wrong? What size alt do you have (idle/max)?

EDIT: NM, I see your alt in your sig.

well i'm running 15.3v on the memphis at 1.1 ohm, so i'm seeing around 4500 out of it, and roughly 500 watts out of my other 2 amps. even while driving at 2k rpm if i play it hard i drop to high 12s.

i guess i should have clarified more what i'm wanting to know as far as compare/contrast. the batcaps are advertised as quick discharge batteries with lower reserves than similar rated batteries, does this mean that they would not be as good as a high reserve battery of the same rating for maintaining continuous bass lines for songs like throw it up, late night tip, bme click, that sort of thing? and that they'd be better for quick recharges between notes in songs with pauses between the bass?

A burst is just that a burst. batteries don't recharge as fast as they can discharge. Also a lower Ah rating also means it will hit the wall faster than a larger Ah battery. 30% DOD on a 50 Ah battery is not going to be 30% on a 100Ah battery

Honestly that D3100 is rated to support 5kwrms per Scottie and Mechman. There is no reason why it should not be holding up, that is if their ratings are valid.

What kind of vehicle is this? I didn't see that mentioned. Also, is this a daily driver playing music only or what?

daily driver playing music. 98 explorer with a 240a iraggi. single 1/0 run connecting each terminal from front to back, big 3 is all 1/0. rear batt is also grounded to the chassis in 1/0. i play it full tilt a lot when i'm on the freeway, commuting to and from work. with hearing protection of course //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

what is dod?

I run both a chassis ground and a ground back to the battery. Whichever will get used as it will go via path of least resistance
thats what i have now, one 1/0 gauge wire connecting the 2 batteries at both positive and negative terminals, plus a 1/0 ground to chassis at both front and rear.

i meant should i have 2 1/0 grounds to chassis at the rear battery, and run a second 1/0 lead connecting the positive terminals?
