At the end of summer before school starts i am going to buy a commuter truck. So this means a 4banger, which i dont really care about having a beefy truck this time in my life. My budget is going to be ~4500-6000, manual or automatic doesnt matter, would you take a frontier or tacoma, or another suggestion? Also if youve had one of those trucks plz post opinion on it.

i just rrecently shopped out the 2 i liked the toyota more felt a little more solid but i bought the frontier because the only tacoma i could afford had high miles on it my price range was $10,000 i got a 02 frontier with 55K miles 4 cylinder manual im getting over 25 mpg if i drive freeway

Will if yotas are really good then i may be able to save a little more and up the range, i certainly dont wanna buy a pile of junk. What would be a decent range 6-7k? I will at least make a 1500 down payment on whatever i get, goal is to have less than a $200 payment per month, something in the $150 range would be great.

I'm happy with my Ranger, other than it being single cab. If it was extended cab, I'd keep it all through college, and it's not that slow if you can drive a stick good, usually get about 23-24 mpg in mine. I'm probably going to get something else next year simply because it sucks putting speakers into a small single cab truck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I really liked my dad's old Nissan Frontier. An '01, I think. It was great on gas mileage. It crumpled like a tin can and rolled when a guy hit him though, so -1 for that. Whatever you get, get the extended cab. I wish to God my Ranger was an ext cab. I would keep it forever if it was.

Not to thread jack, but was it easy getting 6.5"s in your truck? I want to upgrade my mids (including a new amp) and want 6.5"s instead of 5-1/4" like I have now.
