i'm looking to one up my younger bro who has my old type-r 15's in a sealed box with 900watts. so far he's winning as the 8's just don't have the same cone area. and i don't have space for 2 15's

Both would sound pretty great actually, granted the RE8's would sound a tad better. However, you aren't going to be able to compete against 2 SX10's in a ported box (if installed properly). //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

on the other hand, how much power would either setup be getting?

I have 4 8's in a 2 cuft box tuned to 35 with 900 watts, but I'm kinda likin the 10's only cause i have an extra 900 watt amp just sitting here, and plus the 8's sound better in my room lol. I was thinking about going 8 8's but I also forgot that I'm not in my van anymore and the trunk of a dodge steath is small. so 900watts to the 4 8's and 1800watts to 2 10's
