4-8's or 3-10's or 2-12's

Just want opinions as to which setup you would do:

Car: 2011 VW Golf 2dr Hatch

Sub Amp: Soundstream Rubicon 2500.1d

4-8's: Cadence S2W8's

3-10's: Dayton Audio Ultimax

2-12's: Obsidian or AB

Goal: Daily Ground Pounder. Tuning will be 26hz looking for extreme low end. Why? I actually listen to alot of music with low end bass. Current setup will not play the lows.

Budget for Subs: $500

And please don't post up what you have for sale.

OA is very nice choice...all though the Cadence 8's would be a fun build and you already have two so it would be an easy transition.

However, 3 10s takes me back in to the original JLw6 days lol.

did a build with 8's and it was loud but no low end......3 10's would be a hard match for the amp....runninng at 1.33 is kinda hard....

2 12's seems to be the easiest for wiring and building.....plus u will get good low end and output

Depends on the 8's and the enclosure man. My SA-8 V.2's and V.1's both had crazy low end. The V.2s were phenomenal on the lows.

My first thought were the 4 Cadence 8's. I can't just add two as I have Single 2's right now. So to get the max outta my amp I would need 4-4ohms. Still really cheap though considering I can get them at cost.

When it comes to the 10's I thought of running a pair. But I know I would not be happy with the output. Thus why I was throwing in a third. Plus with the Daytons, at 1.33 my amp would more than suffice the input they need.

Obsidians: I have experience with them and know how finicky they are.

AB: Never had them, but they get great reviews.

I wish I had room for 15's but just dont know if I will have room for 6.5-7cu.ft

The OA where "finicky"?
What I mean by that: they are rated at 600 watts rms for a reason. For daily applications and daily playing they will get hot very quickly with anything over 600. Now for burps I could see the handling upwards or 1100 watts easily. So by finicky, They do not like more than 600 watts rms daily. So I would set them for 600 and burp them at the full potential of my amp.

That would likely be more do to clipping or poor enclosure design keeping the driver from cooling.

We poor a good bit more then 600rms to OA subs daily with 100% no issues.

2 12s. go small on the volume with a good amount of port. peaks high but still kills the lows.
that would depend on the subs, while that idea works for some very limited spl designs it is not a "catch all" for all applications.

I wouldn't slim down on space with a nightshade. I would give it some space and port area. Then demo it for a few people..they can get crazy loud and low at the same time.
