3000gt

Hmmmm...

100lbs difference for an extra 100 awhp...

Seems worth going the TT route to me.

Hell, having AWD is worth the extra weight. Who wants FWD when you can have AWD?

Not when it's almost 2 tons.

So were all of the other cars built at the time that it was competing with.

MK4 Supra - 3500lbs, but only sitting around 275-280 ponies...

Z32 300ZX - 3600lbs, again, slightly less power on tap.

LT1 C4 Corvette - 3400lbs...

It's not like it was the fattest lamb on the ranch.

The first two are no-no's. They were grossly underrated by their manufacturer's to meet the gentlemen's agreement in Japan of limiting horsepower. The Skyline is another example.

That said, the cars you mention are also quite powerful. The 300 is the only one close to the weight of the 3k, and it is still quite fast. The problem with the 3k is just costs. To take care of a 3k, along with finding replacement parts, not to mention aftermarket parts, is almost not worth it. Is the car quick turbo? Yes. Is it a decent looking car? Yes. Is it worth putting a lot of money and time into just to keep it running and looking good? Maybe to some, but if it's my hard earned money, I'd rather buy something that I can afford to replace parts on.

And I must say, the 3KGT was the 'funner' of the two cars. I never had any outrageous costs associated with either of them... and I beat up on both of them. Well, other than bills for the 3KGT accident.

...what I wouldn't give for a nice 3kgt hardtop 'vert. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

You also had them earlier in life. By now, most all of them are going to be higher mileage, and most will probably have been beat upon.

I'd take a 3k over a ZX just because the 3k is a better looking car IMO. That said, I'd rather have the Corvette you mentioned, just because of the parts available. Not to mention that working on a Corvette (at least an older one) is about as easy as making fun of Obama for being black.
