Sorry about your deck getting stolen. Sometimes an alarm will help and sometimes the theifs just don't give a d-a-m-n. I had 2 alarms on my cutty and they still stole it with out blinking an eye.

Did you have extra sirens (both inside and out), including a back up siren & battery and strobes on the inside to further annoy them?

There are many extra accessories to add to a alarm to make it more useful in thwarting off the bastards.

I am not saying that a alarm will stop all of them, but with added layers of protection, both electronic and physical, it will make it all the better that you will have just a attempt instead of a successful theft for them.

Thanks for all the advice guys. i havnt invested anything into this car cept fixing it up alittle and putting a system in it.. was about to sell it and get a loan to get a new truck is why i didn't bother getting a alarm or anything. its a lost ill have to deal with. you can only learn from your mistakes i guess.

Yup, I used to wait tables at Red Robin (going BACk there to bartend next week) and had my 97 Taurus stolen. As soon as I got the insurance $, I got an alarm!! Alot of cars get broken into at Red Robin, even though it's not a bad area but you NEVER seen a car with an alarm get touched. Spending a couple hundred on an alarm is definitly worth it!

not to get off topic but my mom had a viper alarm on a 87 grandnational and the alarm didnt stop this thiefs. They pulled the fuse on the alarm and my mom watched them take off in it she heard the alarm looked out side and just seen grey smoke. cops recovered it in one hour luckly

welp, i work at whataburger and park my car always close to the building faceing the drive thru... i have a pioneer DEH-P7600 MP which is a mp3 player also which cost me 300 bucks at bestbuy awhile back... they yanked it out of my dask.. destroyed my whole dash wires hanging everywhere.. and then they steal my two cases of CD's which had over 100 brand new CD's in them... so overall 1,000 doller worth of stuff. now im with nothing i don't get why people like to do this shit. it pisses me off... i always lock my door and i had my door locked but forgot my passenger door wasn't locked so they got in... but my car was by the drive thru thought someone would see someone do it.

why would you fuse your alarm?

why would you fuse anything else in your car... and corto that is why you want to wire a relay to disable your starter. Once the alarm is triggered, even if the fuse is pulled the car won't start with a key. A theif could still hotwire it though, which they could do even if the alarm was still going off.
