3 way components

Whats up everyone? New here trying to gain some knowledge.

Gonna upgrade the front speakers in my truck. Went down to the audio shop the other day to listen to a few sets of speakers to try and figure out what was catching my taste. After listening to a few set of speakers I listened to a set of eclipse 3 ways. The moment they turned on they caught my attention. It was a definite attraction. Only problem is that was the only set of 3 way comps they had on display, so I had nothing to compare them to.

How much better do 3 way comps sound over regular 2 ways?

Some times a lot, some times none.

Read the Speakers FAQ sticky to learn more about the advantages/disadvantages of 2-way vs 3-way.

But there is no definitive answer as to which is better or worse.....it's all about the specific performance of the speakers (and crossover) in question, the abilities of the installer/tuning and which set of trade-offs work best for the particular end user.

Are you limiting your search to those speakers you can personally audition prior to purchase?

What are you goals for the system, both in terms of quality of sound and ease of installation/tuning?

And what price range are you looking at?

What does the rest of the system consist of?

And sound boards are both good and bad.....good in that they allow you to listen to a speaker before you buy it, but bad in that there's no guarantee the setup actually allows you hear the speakers at the peak of their performance. Most sound boards are horrible for accurate sound reproduction, and where the speakers are located on the board (and how their setup on the board...sealed, IB, etc) and what settings are used throughout the rest of the setup on the sound board are going to greatly affect how they "sound". So what sounds best on the sound board might not sound best in your car......and what sounds less than spectacular on the sound board might sound great in your car.

Personally I was looking for 2 ways and just checking whether I liked silk or aluminum tweeters when I went to listen to them. I just turned them on and they sounded awesome to me, but I didn't listen to all of them.

Im open to any kind of speakers. On another forum people just kept telling me to go listen so thats what I did.

I want something that sounds good and I want it quick. lol. Im sick of my stock speakers.

Im looking for to spend around $200 on speakers. Can go a higher if I need to.

What I got so far is 2 CVT65's in my rear doors powered by a Kenwood KAC-8104d with a Kenwood H/U.

X2 on the sound boards. They had a Focal sound board that I was pumped about hearing and when he turned them on they had nothing amazing happening. It sounded plain.

Moving on from the first question. Tossing out the idea of the eclipse set up. What is a solid set of 6.5" components? As I mentioned above looking to spend around $200. Also would like a set with an aluminum tweeter, I think. I liked how that one sounded but I'm not sure how I would like it with all the different music I listen to. So recommend some good components with either material?

Thats what I noticed. I have only seen a few sets with aluminum tweeters.

I looked around a little to find some that appeal to me, heres what I got. Tell me what you think.
