Gonna build a ported box for them 1.5-2 cubes tuned to 29-30 and just wondering how its gonna sound.

I just built the box for my LI, got heckuva lot louder. dont know what to do LI, or 3 re8's. This is the pros and cons list that i came up with for the 8's vs. the LI:

Pros:

Takes Less trunk space

Loooks cooler (IMO)

Louder??? 24" of cone vs. 12", more xcursion etc.

Less stress on my alt.

Cons:

Have to build another box

What am i gonna do with my LI box?

No place to store the LI box

SQ??? Dont know how the SQ are on these things

Not handle the lows well enough??

dont worry about the re8's handling the lows, my 10 can get pretty low

it's all a function of displacement, more drivers play lower, plus daily driving songs dont' really go down below 30

There are quite a few songs out there that have sub-30Hz material in them.

i had 3 re8s in a ported box tuned to about 32hz? they each had about .6 cu ft, sounded decent off about 375, almost got as loud as my rlp that was in 1.5 tuned to 34 hz getting 450wrms. you'll be surprised //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'd put them in 2cubes NET @32hz with around 50 square inches of port. Send them around 250-300rms each. You'll be happy.

Either way is a win. So try both and see which you like best.

The 3 8" arent gonna give ya double the cone area. Look at it this way...look at 2 of the 8s then a 15....think those two 8s have more cone?
