i have a clarion dpx1151 stable down to 2ohms

but i want to get a jbl gti mkII that i can wire down to 3 homs. can the amp handle it?

when amps say their stable down to, for example 2 ohms (like in my case) does that mean they can handle any ohms down to 2 ohms? or is it strictly what they say, like mine says 2 and 4 ohms.

always kind of wondered this.

You will be fine at 3 ohms

a 1 ohm stable amp can do 1, 2, 2.5, 2.9, 3, 3.2, etc. ohms right?

Yes, the problem comes when you try to go past 1 ohm.

yeah i know the problem is when you try to go down lower than what the amp is stable at, just wasnt sure if it could do anything in between.

but thats good to know. ive never dealt with any odd number ohm so i wasnt sure.

yup but you're not going to get 2 ohm power out of the amp at 3 ohm, unless it's regulated like the JL slash series amps.

ur fine expect 1/2 the dif between 4 and 2 ohm

example: 200 at 4 ohms and 400 at 2 ohms is roughly 300 at 3 ohms get it?
