3 cubes versus 4 cubes?

Ok so im thinking about 15" RE SEs instead of 12"s the only thing really holing me back is the box size. I might be able to squeeze a 6 cube box giving me 3 cubes per sub, which is the compact size for the SE 15"s. Whats going to be the main difference between a 6 cube and an 8 cube box? Both tuned to 32Hz? Any reason to really push it with the 8 cubes, or be happy with the compact one? Thanks

Polyfil in a ported enclosure won't sound the same as a larger ported enclosure. Polyfil will dampen the response and reduce output around tuning.

The larger enclosure will have a little bit better low frequency extension but slightly lower mechanical power handling. The smaller box will have less output around tuning and more of a boost in the upper frequencies and will allow for improves mechanical power handling. The 15" SEs should have no trouble getting low in either enclosure.

Ok that doesnt sound bad. I hear the SEs get low anyway. So if i tune to 32 Hz, it will reduce the output in the 30s range a bit? I might be able to get a 7 cube to work, but either way im gonna try for 15s. Thanks
