I am running 3 12" JL W6v1's in series on 800 @ 4ohms, sealed to JL's spec for the w6's. No stuffing in the boxes.

I have pitiful low lows... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif Not that I need it for most SQ. Any suggestions? THis has been a problem for awhile.

Those two sentences do NOT belong together.

Some more install details other than "rec'd box" would be very helpful in helping you.

One is wired out of phase. That and you can't wire those subs in series to get a 4 ohm load. If you have a 4 ohm load, the coils are in series and the drivers in parallel. If they are in fact wired in series, you have a 9 or 36 ohm load, which would also explain your problem.
this guy know his shvt so i would listen to em

In JL's manual if you wire them in series you get a 4ohm load. I remember testing it too but the install itself was rather rushed, so i am unsure of what the load played out to be, but it is wired exactly to how the manual asked it be wired. The subs sound great overall, very punchy BUT have a huge rolloff at lower htz which one might expect form smaller drivers. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

THis is only a problem for rap and some techno where there are low hums that basically just get lost completely.

I know, he's also very knowledgeable about these specific subs.

I have played around with the w6 AEs and they don't have much lowend sealed. You may have your wiring jacked or a subsonic filter set too high as well. Check into those things.
This was my fear... That they just **** for lows when sealed.

I still have no idea how to adjust the QBASS feature on my amp. All the crossover issues I dealt with in the beginning (including hooking one RCA patch cable up to the wrong output) have been solved, but any hit or miss adjustment of the QBASS results in "gain" setting type effects in the higher freqs which I don't want.

I am wondering if one of these ported would work better than 3 of them sealed, or, that I just have to break down and either replace them with 1 nice ported 12 or mess around with stuffing the boxes.

My 10s were a killer on the low end. The 12s in my experience were even better. To get a 4 ohm load you have to have the coils in series (6+6 for 12 ohms per driver) and the drivers in parallel (3 12 ohm drivers in parallel for a 4 ohm final load). Make sure that one driver isn't out of phase or that one of them doesn't have one of the coils reversed, and like I said if they are in series, you don't have 4 ohm load.

its gota be his wiring. bout 7 years ago i had a 90 nissan 240sx w/ 2 15w6s sealed. the subs fired up towards the hatch glass. it was the loudest car iv owned. at a local comp back then... i was doin 149's allday. it was nasty!!!! LOL
