I know everyone hates the "what will it hit question" but given a good charging system (160 amp),yellow top optima,alot of dynamat in a 2002 jetta with:

500/1 with 4 g. wire

eclipse 8443 hu

and a 2.25 cubeft. sealed enclosure

do you think I'll get to low 140's?

secondly- do you think external eq's make a big difference? The jl amps seem to have pretty good control as well as the eclipse 8443 hu, I was thinking maybe a deq-230 or a eclipse 21010.

Are they hard to tune in and is ther a formula or do you just go by "ear".

with only 500 watts, more like 550 from the 500/1, i am guessing mid 130's. if it was like 1000 watts, i would say 140 without breakin a sweat.

Why do you think that the jl tech's say that a 1000/1 is super overkill for 3 10w3v2's and that they really only recomend 1000/ for multiple w7 woofer's.

Plus a 1000/1 is gonna draw 80+ amps so I would need a upgraded alternator.
