Right now ive got a single RE XXX 15 inch in a ported snailshell box with about 1200 watts going into it. The bass is pretty good but i want something to blow it away.

Im thinking about getting 3 10's sealed or possibly 2 12's sealed or maybe ported. (I'd prefer sealed but not if deep bass is going to be hard to achieve.

I just want something that will be more accurate then what i have along with deeper/louder bass than what ive got.

What would you suggest for the subs. Is there any (3) 10's or (2) 12's that would be a significant upgrade?? Im not looking for something a little bit better, if its not significantly better, why waste the time and money. Budget for the subs is around 800.00. Doesnt have to be new either.

Opinions would be appreciated, thanks alot.

Yup you are going to need more juice to achieve stupid loudness with 2 12's or 3 10's. I say do 2 12's ported with about 2000 watts. This should satisfy your spl needs if it is done right.

I like Orion amps. What does anyone think about the 2100 HCCA vs the 2500D amp. I just love those big red amps but i heard that they are a bit outdated in todays world by a couple of people. I had the 225 HCCA on 2 10 inch orion xtr's from 10 years ago and it hit almost as hard as the XXX i have now and was definitely more accurate in the sealed enclosure.

Go with 2 12s. It's alot easier to wire 2 subs than it is to wire 3, and 2 12s and 3 10s have about the same cone area IIRC. Plus you get more volume per sub with 2 versus 3.

why dont you just give the XXX 2kW?

I dont want to kill it. I was told when i bought it to power it with around 1200 watts with my enclosure. Im about to give it 1500 but any more than that i think is probably pushing it for a daily driver. You think?

I ran 2400 to mine with no problems. Now is in my house. Put it in a 4 ft box, tune to 33hz. Dont try and break it and it will be great. If I wanted more than that, I would have to have 3 good 12s, and more power, or 2 15".

I will promise you that you are mistaken about the relative SPL between the 2 XTR10s and the XXX15. There is no comparision. A sealed enclosre isn't going to get that loud. If you are looking for SPL and accuracy, put the XXX15 in the right box and feed it power. Basic ported box, tuned low 30s. 2kW. The build of the box will dictate the quality of the results.

Forget about the 2100. I own one. It's nice but it won't do the power of a newer amp and will draw a lot more current in the process.

So ive narrowed it down to either 2 12 inch ID Max or 2 12 inch RF T212's

Or 3 Orion HCCA 10's or 3 RF T210's.

I want to get a sealed box for now. If the bass isnt low enough i can switch to ported pretty easily. I just want to choose the right subs. I'd be sending between 1600 - 2000 rms to whichever setup i pick.

Of those 4 choices, which would have the deepest bass in a sealed enclosure? Price is about the same on either choice.

By the way, why is it harder to wire 3 subs instead of 2?
