imo,it's like taking the turbo out of the bass. What are some of the downsides to having 2v preouts with the alpine hu?
X300...all these people saying your going to be missing something are incorrect. Your amp will have to work harder as the signal is not as strong, but just means a higher gain setting.lol nothing but higher gain settings.

The amp will "work" the same, no matter where the input gain is set.Your amp will have to work harder as the signal is not as strong,
By that I meant you will have to increase the gain in order to allow the amp to work at the same wattage.Unless you have a noise issue, there's nothing wrong.

Sounds to me like you either didn't readjust the gain, or adjusted it differently than it was set with the Pioneer. As those are exactly the subjective differences one would expect if you didn't adjust the gain down enough to compensate for the higher voltage (compared to how it was set with the Pioneer). In my case a higher gain setting made NO diff. Went from a Pio 2v to an eXcelon 4.5v and it was a night and day diff. Louder, cleaner, and fuller sounding bass, mids, highs.
Yes, with the disadvantage of hearing more pops, hisses, and feedback. The advantage to having a higher pre out voltage is to keep amps gains setting as low as possible in order to achieve better quality of sound.X300...all these people saying your going to be missing something are incorrect. Wouldn't that also be dependent on the quality of the amp/amps?Yes, with the disadvantage of hearing more pops, hisses, and feedback. The advantage to having a higher pre out voltage is to keep amps gains setting as low as possible in order to achieve better quality of sound.
Great unit. I've had a couple. I also had a W200 before that, and currently have a W505.ok, thanks for all the replys. with that being said what do you guys thing of the alpine IVA-W205?
