2k1 civic lx and $500+ to spend

First off i wanted to say hello to everybody.....i've been browsing the board for a while but im a first time poster....well i have a 2001 honda civic lx and wanted to add an amp/sub....but i had a couple questions

1. can i still keep the headunit while adding an amp/sub?

2. should i upgrade the headunit (i dont want to becuz im afraid it'll draw attention to the car)

3. which amp/sub should i get? i wanna keep it under 500 but will pay more if i should (aka better bang for the buck) no more than 800 for sure

4. what else do i need?...should i buy an amp wiring kit? capacitor? and which box should i get?

i have experience in installation but not much....i used to work for an aftermarket car company in so cal so i used to hook my friends up with cheap stuff and installation on performance products and they used to hook me up with stereo stuff....but since im in nor cal now i gotta do it myself....thanks guys!

First of all, why a civic? Get something with some balls! j/k

Anways.... what are u after? Big @$$ BOOM or good sounding bass? (SPL or SQ). Or in between? I prefer Alpine's Type-r's. YOu can get some 12"'s for $100 a piece or so online. You can get two, and then buy a hifonics bx1000d amp. This will cost you about $500 for the amp + subs. You can probably keep your stock deck, I'm pretty sure a stock Honda deck has at least one pair of pre-outs. Orion XTR900.2 & two Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2 subs

zebs has that package deal for 599.....sounds like an amazing deal....is it?....a little over my budget since i need a box and a wiring kit but if the deal is really good i'll jump on it
