2gb or 4gb of ram

Which one should I go with?

Alright, well, I'm looking at my computer specs, and it's saying

"Supports up to 4GB maximum memory

Note: Windows XP supports up to 3GB maximum memory"

I'm guessing this means 4GB is for Vista, which I don't have yet. Though I'm guessing 3GB will do me just fine regardless, and perhaps exactly the price I'm wanting to pay.

How do I make sure the 1GB and 2GB Ram cards that I get match and are compatible?

I'm not a fan of Vista over XP. The changes made aren't really needed IMO and they just take up more memory. There are ton of reviews comparing the two, google em.

But for the original question... If money isn't a concern why would it be a question? Go for the 4gb =/

I have 2 GB. On Vista. Ran it with Crysis. Was using 90% memory. Nuff said. You don't need anymore than 2. Unless you're editing hugeeeeeeeeeeeee pictures for a longggggg time. Or movies. Maybe for Assassin's Creed when it comes out. You see the specs on that? ****.

And just to add to this cluster-**** of my questions, is Vista worth it? I can pick up a legit copy for $15.
I wouldn't upgrade an existing system to XP, but I wouldn't buy a new system w/ XP unless there was a specific reason behind it (i.e. crucial software/peripherals don't work in Vista). 90% of the systems I build have Vista on them and Vista works perfectly fine, it just takes a little getting used to ...
