26mph over speeding ticket

Weh mah Savage?
So last night I was driving home from a friend's house on a major highway near my house. The speed limit is 65. I was passing a couple semi's that were in the far right lane, and when I came out on the other side, there was a cop sitting right there. I knew I was screwed, because I looked down as soon as I saw the cop, and I was doing about 90. I got over into the right lane know that he would be after me, and sure enough, about 20 seconds later he was right there, lights flashing. I pulled over, he had clocked me at 91. I was polite, yes sir, no sir, and he wrote me up a ticket. It's my first run in with the police, but I'm worried because I'm 18, and supposedly this is grounds for suspension of my license. How likely am I to lose it, and how much is my ticket going to be? Oh, I think it was a GA State Highway Patrol guy, if that makes any difference.

I've heard of people just going to court and having the judge knock off a couple MPH, especially if it's your first ticket. I'm hoping that this will happen. Paying the fine won't be a problem, I just need my truck for getting back and forth to college. My court date isn't until February, so hopefully I can get it figured out by then.

He also said that me attending court was not neccessary, is this a good sign that my license won't be suspended?

You can just pay the fine, and it all goes away, except your insurance company is gonna stick it to ya for the next 5-7 YEARS. They aren't going to take away your liscence. You can go to court, but given that you are guilty, he is not likely to help you out much. The last time I went to court, he knocked $30 off the fine, and I had to pay $22 in court fees- so I sat in courtrrom for a couple of hours with a bunch of degenerates to save $8- my time is worth a lot more than that.

Simple, get a lawyer that specializes in traffic tickets. He will get you off with a small fine and at most 3 months of driving probation...IE dont get another ticket in 3 months or you pay them both to the full ammout. Ive had so many speeding tickets its not even funny, and not one has gone on my record. My local traffic lawyer is the bomb ive prolly had 15 out of 20 dismissed because they know how to keep throwing them to the bottom of the pile till the cop is transfered or gets tired of repeatily showing up for a court date that gets postponed and wastes his time and efforts.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

i don't know how it is in your town lol. but here my friend got pulled over in a 65 doin about 105 and all he got was a ticket. eventually he did get suspended though. way tooo many tickets

i am not quite sure, but i think in cali, 20 or 30 over is wreckless driving. over 100 and you got a one night stay in jail. most of the time the cop will write you up for 99 though, just so he doesnt have to go through the mess of taking you to jail. thats going to be a big ticket man.

I can handle the ticket. I think my dad is going to be pissed about the insurance, and I might end up paying him the increase if it is pretty bad. It's not like I drive around recklessly all the time. Like I said, this is my first ticket in two years of driving. For my insurance I have (had?) the safe driver discount as well as the Good Student discount. We'll see though. If my dad *****es too much, I'll just remind him of how my brother totalled two cars in a month.

This is what I did for all my tickets....for 25 over, went to traffic school, paid the $30 for the class, had no points assessed to my license and therefore my insurance does not go up, this is what you should do. But, IMO, dont go to court unless you know you can win otherwise your stuck paying court fees plus the ticket itself and still have points added to your license. Be honest with your parents, dont hid the ticket or do anything behind their backs becuase some how they always find out. Tell him asap, say it was stupid, wrong, i dont know what i was thinking, tell him you'll take care of everything inclucing costs and yu'll be making jokes about it in a few days with mom and dad...good luck.
