240amp Alt. whine noise

I recently installed a 240amp alternator to replace my stock one in a 2001 Silverado. I didn't have any alternator noise with the stock alternator but since installing the upgraded alt. I have been getting noise in my mids. All my amps are individual grounded properly. I am using the stock ground for the head unit. I also have an audio control epic center that is grounded through the ground on the head unit. I was thinking of running a ground for the head unit and audio control unit to the chassis. Does anyone think that is the problem or am I wasting my time. Or does anyone have any suggestions what the noise could be coming from. Thx for any help

thats a ground loop problem.

ground your alt to frame.

You said all the issues yourself man,

1. factory HU ground is horrible

2. Epicenter will only make it worse.

3. Grounding your amps at different places will cause ground loop problem.

4 ground your alt as stated before

I don't think grounding the amps at their own location will make it worse, I had all my amps grounded together and it made noise, rewired my entire truck with sep ground points and theres no noise now (00 silverado).

I'm willing to bet you have a problem with the ground impedence of one of your amps and the hu/audiocontrol unit. You have to go through a process of elimination, 99% of the time the alternator isnt the issue but it could be.

Should of mentioned this first, don't use the factory ground for your headunit. Ground directly to the metal behind your headunit inside the dash. I have the exact same truck as you, trust me, there's a piece of metal there.

Another problem with these trucks is the factory ground strap, they corrode and break off causing issues, check that too. It's going to require a lot of troubleshooting

I should have been more clear my amps are all grounded to one point each with its own ground wire. My alt. Is grounded to the chassis. I'm going to ground head unit and post back. Thx for the input.
