2012 Corvette Audio Make Over Help

Hey everyone,

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July. Sorry in advance for all of the questions, I just want to make sure I do it right the first time.

I have a 2012 Corvette Grand Sport coupe with Nav and the Bose and would like to upgrade the sound. I really have no idea what I want to do. I don't want the loudest setup in the world, I would just like to get the best sound quality, but I would like to keep the price as low as possible. I want quality stuff, but if there is a small difference between 2 things I would probably go with the cheaper option since I doubt I could notice a small difference.

First of all, I was planning on doing something like the Corvette Package from Second Skin for insulation for heat and noise.

Second, I looked at just replacing the front 3.5" speakers and rear 5.25" speakers with Kicker DS35 and Kicker DS525.

Lastly, I thought about replacing the factory Nav head unit, adding a good amp, going with good components and possibly even a 10" sub in the back.

Would the simple Kicker setup sound good? I know it wont be louder, but will sound better, especially if I insulate the car.

If I did replace the head unit, I would want to retain steering wheel controls, bluetooth, Nav and iPod control on the head unit.

Thanks again and cant wait to hear some suggestions from more experienced people.

Well kicker is on the lower end of sound quality. Personally I would go with the infinity reference series for your front and rear mids. And if you get a new headunit, the wiring harness on your old one should plug right in so your steering controls should still work. The direction of amp and sub your going towards, it sounds like you would like a 10 inch version of the jl w/o series on a jl audio XD 300/1. Here are some links to the items...

Reference 3002cfx - Infinity

Reference 5002ix - Infinity

10WØv3-4 - Car Audio - Subwoofer Drivers - WØv3 - JL Audio

XD300/1 - Car Audio - Amplifiers - XD - JL Audio

The links go straight to what I have listed and I even when the extra mile to find the same size speakers 3 1/2 | 5/14 sizes.
