2008 C6 Corvette

I bet a 10 would sound d*mn good in a vette. My friend had an Alpine Type X 12 in a ported Probox. It sounded good, but didnt get loud like my Grand Am GT did. I want it to sound good, be loud, but I want to be able to turn it up at full tilt every once in a while to get the girls wet :)

Either way, Im not getting rid of my RE ***'s. I just love the speakers. I saved up for a long time and have wanted those subs for years and now that I got them and Ill be able to give them more airspace, im not getting rid of them..

So for a hatchback, my belief is you go sealed, not ported...

So one 12 RE *** Ported to 31 hrtz

or

2 12" RE *** 12's sealed with 1.15 cft of airspace for each sub

I didnt know vettes have 8"s in the doors. That's badass. I would love to get that just so I can throw some ID8s in the doors, pair them with some horns, and throw my idmax in a nice sealed box in the hatch. Man, that makes me jealous that some cars have factory 8" openings in the doors.

Sorry, we got a bit off topic here. I think I should ask on a corvette message board.
don't go to corvette forums, its full of old men who are scared to try anything new on their ride.

as far as the 8's in the doors, they're kind of a pain in the ***. they're not a normal mount 8" to start with so you have to make an adapter plate for anything you do. I've seen some people make adapters for 6.5"'s

Here is some pics I stole from the corvette forums

Holy crap.

I remember squeezing the 1 18" RE SX subwoofer in my Grand Am GT ported. Took up the entire trunk. Had to go through the fold down seats. I had to take a dye grinder to the metal part under the plastic bezel

I remember my corvette being so loud inside - but with the windows up

you could walk a fiew feet away from the car and not hardly hear much at all - but roll down the windows or open the doors and its blaring crazy loud.

I think it was due to the car being made of fiberglass - was basicly just like the whole car was built with sound deadning.

or that sheet metal pannels were not vibrating - creating their own sound waves - and or it was just sealed up realley good.

are all corvettes like that ?

I was pretty disapointed that I never got metered before having to give up on that ol vette.

Wow, thats a pretty insane box. I dont want a box that big. I want it behind the seats, facing the rear angled slightly up towards the glass. I still want storage to put a couple of duffle bags and groceries in it.
