2006 Trailblazer after market radio...help

I have a 2006 Trailblazer that I'm trying to put an after market radio in. Every one says I need a door chime harness. Is this required or is there other ways to get around it? Thanks

It is required. If you want things to work right. Alot goes through the radio its more than just the door chime. Its just How GM does it. Its not much if I remember right to get the module.

ya i have an 05 trailblazer... i got my indash kit and the gm adapter at crutchfield... model GMRC-01, its the cheaper version, it depends if you have bose or onstar. i dont, so i got the cheaper one without the onstar support.

the adapter keeps your door chimes and your switched 12v power...in other words.. if you turn your key off, your radio goes off and you cant use the "accessory" on your ignition for power

You can get around the chimes harness but chimes wont work. Your retained power comes from the main harness you buy.

To keep all functionality you need:

main radio harness like a PAC OS-2 model

Chimes PAC CM1

Steering wheel harness PAC SW1 if your radio will support control input.

I just installed a Z2 in a Trailblazer SS last week with new amps, speakers, sub, etc and retained all controls including Onstar.
