2005 MANDATORY Draft

First off I started a thread about this just a couple months before the election. I believe the idea was sponsored by a couple of Congressmen from each the left and right wings. At the time on this forum it was dismissed as political jargon, which it may be, but at the time it was a legitimate question for the President to answer. He did and I am fully satisfied with his answer. But remember Bush Senior said, "Read my lips no new taxes" before he got elected and then later raised taxes. My philosophy is that all the men ages 18-23 that voted for Bush's re-election should serve in the army before I have too. If you voted for the war you should be made to back your vote up!

I actually think the draft would be a good idea, atleast for men. People are so quick to take for granted the freedom that so many fight to preserve. You can say what you want about the war in Iraq, but even in peace time I think all men should be required to serve atleast 2 years in the military. Might make men of some instead of the rich spoiled brats that we have today. I have been in the Army almost 10 years and I am currently fighting in Baghdad. I have seen comrades fall and have been extremely scared myself, but I will never again take for granted the little things in life that so many couldn't ever imagine living without. Even while I sit here and write this I am in constant fear of a random mortar attack. And I believe that if you are not willing to fight for your country then there are other countries that will take you. I don't believe that the military is a career for everyone, but giving 2 years of your life or even one tour in Iraq is a very very small price to pay for all that we have come to love in the US.

Rather say that, I´d like to see some kind of mandatory military style training. Not anything you´d necessarily need to put your life on the line for (IE go to a combat zone) but just something to make you understand what a soldier goes through.

Also, that rumor is way old, and was started by democrats. Trust me, it´s not going anywhere.

mad respects. that pic makes you look badass lol. this controversial issue is too easy to facilitate more than one side, in any case, good luck out there. definitely have more balls than me

^^^ x2

Allen, you are definitly a badass.

My feeling on the whole draft situation is that if the draft is started up again, I'm going to go down and enlist. I want to be able to say that I enlisted when my country needed some good men to fight for it. I definitly dont want to say that I was drafted like some *****.

Thats just my feelings on the situation, I think I'm just looking for an excuse to enlist...or not to since there probably wont be a draft. If I wasnt such a scrawny little ****, I'd probably be signed up right now.

just because someone doesn't enlist doesn't make them a pus or anything---i just means they don't want to serve in the military.listen very close when i tell you that if your not chomping at the bit to enlist--then maybe the military isn't the best place to be. i served 10 years in the military and believe me that if you aren't 100 percent positive that its for you before you go--then once you get there you'll be hating life. i would rather serve with a guy who got drafted and decided to **** it up and go then to serve with someone who was pressured into it and *****es and whines at every chance he gets about being in.

i was only saying he was a pus because he was like when a draft will be enabled he said he would enlist then, that is no different than him getting drafted, thats what i meant, why wait?

because if they actually start drafting ppl that means the country is in a serious crisis and by him volunteering that probably saves someone who doesn't want to go from getting drafted....honorable thing to do.
