2005 Eclipse 8-volt unit crossovers

Back onto topic. The 8445 does NOT have seperate crossovers. They are combined so to speak. Nothing like the 03,04 models' crossovers. To me, it looks like they are trying to get more people to buy the 8455 for the extra money. To me, the 8445 is useless. Like a marketing scheme. Just my opinion.

Where's the "Hi!, I'm a first time Eclipse user and here's my review...." review? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
Everyone by now should know what the 8053 is or isn't capable of //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Did you have fun with all the spagetti's behind the unit?hehe...
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/censored.gif.f9ad8e7c6db58c5530c5a0a20a3b5baf.gif It seriously took me half an hour to get the sucker jammed back into my dash //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif And for some reason I now have alt whine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I haven't tried regrounding the amps yet....but, if that doesn't work, I am seriously fearing having to fight with the 8053 again to run a new HU ground //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

How is it a marketing scheme? You either need it the extra control or you dont. The 8445 is +$100-150 cheaper over the 8455 and it sounds every bit as good as it.

They are not tricking you!! They are giving you OPTIONS.

IF you need a deck for total control of an ACTIVE set up, 10 bands of PEQ, digi outs....go with the 8455

IF you are going to run a Passive fronstage anyways and 7bands of PEQ is enough for you save the +$100 and the 8445 is PLENTY.

EVERYTHING ELSE IS THE SAME!

The x-over slope's are more than adequate on the 8445. The novelty of the extra control on the 8455 sure is nice, but you always have you amps x-overs that you could put to work. I trust them being the closest to the speakers to work best at filtering anyways.

NOW HAS ANYONE USED THE 8445 in 'ADVANCED MODE' (other than Dfcas)

to verify how the x-over is setup?

Judging by this, it appears the x-over is a comnied F/R split Sub x-over

I hardly considered my 8443 'useless', between the HU and xover on my amps the job was well taken care of and end result was still stellar sound.

In all honesty, had the 8445 been out/available(it was not) at the time of my purchase I would've gotten it. All these bells n whistles are nice to have, but I find myself and many others that have minimal use for them. I'm the type that judges a deck by the fidelity it delivers with absolutely every whistle off- Thats why I'm am

an Eclipse repeat buyer. I never had a prob x-over properly with amps at the time of install. 'Set it and forget it''.

I have lots to say to this last post, but I am literally too darn exhausted to muster up anything articulate at this point. Will get back atcha, Max.

hi all i recently went through all this recently when i went to buy my new hu and after everything was said and done i ended up buying the 8445 .. why u ask? because i dont think the extra $150 ( in my case) was worth it sure i would get 3 extra bands of peQ a bit better cross over control and a nifty free 32 meg memory card ( i got my own from local store 128 meg for $30) everything else is the same cept for the control variances in adv and pro modes a couple of different options on each .

as for the extra x-over settings on the 8455 almost every amp nowa days comes with x-over just use the one on the amp for that extra control ... and if u got comps well there ya go........

i got the 8445 installed with the dash kit for the radio harness and amp intregation ( currently using stock amp in vehicle) for 550 . and i love this radio i think this week ill install rest of system ( hopefully) and see what this thing really sounds like .

only complain i have is the remote on these radios its big and clunky and the volume is slow as death when using remote
