2005 Dodge need special module to work?

Hello all from Iowa; Just picked up a 2005 Dodge Magnum with the stock Standard Stereo set up. I would like to install a new HU a KDC-X791 the local shop has on sale for $179.00. The problem is they say it takes a special module [$80.00 ] to work with the rest of the OEM system due to odd Ohm values of the stock speakers. Is this true??

Yes it is unfortunitly.Nowadays alot of the new cars are requireing bypass and interface moduals to make after market stuff work.

this is true i just changed the speakers in mine and ran it off a new amp

I have been out of the Audio world for the last 16 years. My last (system) was back in 1990, Alpine HU., or as we called it a cassette deck , Alpine by- level eq, a pair of some Alpine amps, and one big Majestic amp ( neat stuff back then). All powering some Mtx suitcase style speakers sitting on top of a pair of Bazooka tubes. All crammed in a 88 Nissan standard cab pickup with no A/C. and I was / still am 6’2’’ tall, thought I was real cool.

Had it all stolen one night shortly after I moved to Wichita, (probably a good thing), and swore never to do the (audio thing) again.

So now older and Wiser- I am going to do this again??? Well at least with more function then form as before.
