2003 monte carlo ss radio harness??

I have a 2003 Monte Carlo SS.I am trying to install my new 7" dvd/cd player.Has anyone installed a aftermarket radio in one of these cars before? I have read you have to buy the gmos-04 Harness interface.Can you use the cheaper Gmos -01 harness?also do u have to keep factory amp hooked up? I dont plan on running factory amp and plan on running new speaker wire throughout the vehicle.

any input or help would be greatly appreciated...thanks

if you plan on rewiring then you dont need the 04 and the 01 will do.
