2002 Kicker L5 vs 2005 Kicker L5

I was going to get two 15 inch kicker solo-baric L7s but all of a sudden their prices went up.

I found some L5s on ebay. 2002 model for around $300 for two. then the 2005 model for around $370 for two.

So I was just wondering if the 2005 model is worth the extra money? Anyone had an experiences with both of these?

2006 or nothing. People from team kicker said the 06 L5's are basically the 05 L7s. And also every year they have been upgraded

Even the 2002 models were wildly underrated, kicker just doesn't bother changing the specs.

I don't know anything about the 2005's, but i owned a 2002, and a friend of mine still has one, they're a lot more efficient than the 2006's, and i can't say anything about the power handling capacity of either, as i've never blown a 15 up. But the 2002 was definitely sloppy as hell compared to the 06.

Get two 06 L5's, they'll perform just as good as the 05's, and they look a hell of a lot beter imo.

I dont have a whole lot of money right now but I would rather wait just a little longer if there is a big difference between them.

Researched on ebay and here are the lowest prices I found:

Two 2002-$300

Two 2005-$370

Two 2006-$427

Which would be the best choice? I'm sure the 2006 would be the best but is it worth all the extra money? If so, why?

I would like to get a few more opinions. They 2002 model is out of the picture. Its just down to the 2005 and 2006 now.

If you have around 1000w rms handy for each speaker, wait a few months for 06 prices to drop.

If you already have subs in your ride, wait a few months for the prices still.

If you don't fall into both of those categories, just get the 05's, you're not gonna be disappointed either way, but if you're just UPGRADING, it'd be worth the wait. But if you don't have anything, jump on the cheap 05's, cause summer's here, dammit! The 05 L5's are probably better than the 2002 L7 i had, and that thing was NASTY, so it's a win-win.

I've got 800 RMS ready for each speaker.

I've got a system right now that was hitting 145, but just the other day I blew one of my 15s now its not that loud at all. And i want some L5s badly!!!

Also keep in mind, the subs are going to be in the back, out of sight.

The only person who's gonna know/care what's back there is YOU 99% of the time.

And i seriously can't imagine a fellow audio junkie seeing your gear and saying "man, those 05's ****, you should've gotten the 06's."

And you'll have pocket change left for gas. You'll need it.

I know what your saying but I just want it to be extremely loud. Is there a lot of sound difference between the 2?
