Quick, EASY question for you.

How many watts will it take to make some subs (in my trunk) sound like they are in the backseat? Does it matter what kinda subs?
Because im looking at some CVRs, (2 12''s), and I was wondering if it makes it sound like they are in the back seat our not. Because I dont want them to sound distant. You know what I mean?
This won't necessarily be the result of X or Y amount of wattage being fed to the subs.

It will be much more dependant on how insulated the interior of your car's cabin is from the trunk, the thickness and composition of the padding in the backseat, etc etc etc. It'll be much more install dependant that wattage input.

Sorry - I'll try and avoid it in the future //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

yea basically, subbass is not directional, meaning that if you aim a speaker away from you and turn around, you should not be able to detect exactally where its at.

in fact, you dont want your subs to "sound like" they are anywhere in your car. you want them to blend seamlessly into the rest of the stereo.

and as said, it will not depend on any wattage at all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Thats true, I never really thought about that, Lol.

Although, does power have any play in the fact, or is it all box design, and placement?

What im getting is that wattage has absolutly nothing to do with it. So..is it more encloser box design, or placement in the trunk. Or combo of both.

power and box design (for subwoofers) has to do with how loud it will get, and box design (also has a play in SPL) is more akin to the frequency band the speaker will play and what peaks and attenuations there will be in that frequency band.

box placement and the enviornment in wich the speaker system is installed in will effect how the sound blends with the rest of the music (frequency response also has to do with how it will blend, but this has to do with where the crossovers are set rather than to anything else)

i mean, its kind of all involved together, but the biggest change you can have is trying to open the trunk to the rest of the cabin and give the subwoofer its rated power and rated box volume and\or tuning frequency+port size
