2001 vw gti....what you think?

imo i think they look like an old car instead of a new car, thats why i wouldnt buy the MK4, lol
that post went completely over your head. i was talking about within the generation.

for instance compare a early 97 e-class sedan to a 2002 sedan. still the same 210 chassis, same overall appearance but minor exterior cosmetic changes that make me never even consider buying one of the "pre-facelift" e's.

my idea was, if the mk4 ran from 1999-2004 (or whatever it ran) with no exterior changes what so ever, i can buy a 99 save a good chunk of change and still get one that looks the same as if i bought an 04. if a nicer updated look with small styling cues was introduced within the mk4 generation but say...in 2001, then id opt for a 2001.

go with a 4 cyl that has a turbo....good friend just sold his and whishes he did.....also dont take it the wrong way...i remember u being tall are u sure u can sit in it comfortably ?
yea, im 6'3". i fit in a lot of small cars though, so long as the seat goes back far enough. i havent had a problem with the small japanese cars ive driven including a couple hatchbacks, i just push the seat back and its all good.

I have a 2000 passat. I bought it with 120k from an old lady. I freekin love the thing, seriosly. Plenty of room to upgrade the audio system and everything in the car is literally designed hassle free. I really like it a lot. I recently bought a truck and was gonna sell my vdub, but I miss my car and am now tryin to sell my truck I JUST got haha.

I say buy it man, ya not gonna regret it.

meh, close this thread. i did my research. im scared.

i work on cars for a living. fixing them is easy, its having to dump the money for the parts that sucks and having to make arrangements to be able to fix the **** things. when youve owned an explorer with 213k miles on the odo, and you havnet really had to do shit to it ( i mean seriously, like nothing besides an o2 sensor), all these issues make you wonder if its really worth giving up an old turd thats never done you wrong...

lol, why you scured?
check the edit. what i should of done is buy a super unreliable car as my first car (actually its my 2nd, but the first was also an explorer, same engine and everything), then stepping up to anything would be an improvement. as of right now, it seems anything will be downgrading as far as reliability goes.

*knocks on wood that the shit doesn't hit the fan next week*

I've had my car for 3 years and the only thing besides routine maintenance I've had to do is replace the maf sensor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

i dont care about 3 years, i care about mileage. how many miles? a car sitting for days at a time for 3 years means nothing. miles dont increase unless the car is actually being driven and shit is given the chance to **** up. under 100k isn't relevant to me, since i will buy a car with 80k on it, and it will have almost 100k by the end of my first year of having it.

dont take offense, its just the way i see it.

Exactly what I'd be thinking.

Unless you recently got a job that'd be requiring you to commute a lot farther, and up your fuel costs significantly...getting a new car because you're "tired" of the one you have is not going to make a lot of financial sense.
