2001 monte carlo head unit question

The wire harness from the factory head unit has two illumination wires one is all orange and the other is orange and white.. now the wire harness from the after market headunit does not have a illumination wire. and when I plug in the radio nothing happens what is going on??? the wire harness also has two or three of the same wire. EX. wire harness from the stock hu two 12volt wires...two red ones...

did you cut the plugs off? or did you get a wire harness to wire to the radio and just plug it into the factory harness?

no you know how its two wire harness one from the stock to the after market harness and the after market right to the back of the after market

i dont get your question, if the harness has illum wires and your deck doesnt you just dont use them, i dunno why it has more than one power wire though, what does the destructions say?

illumination never works so dont even hook it up.

My illumination works just fine on my 02 monte carlo. I'm using a pioneer 6800 dvd.

This is how the harness looks for the after market head unit

and this is how it looks from the stock head unit.. you see how it has more then one illumination wire and two red ones.. and is red and white

It's just common sense man. If you have 2 red wires, twist'em together, then connect it to your head unit harness. I'm not sure what the red and white is, tho. Look at the harness' package and look at what each color is.

And screw the dimming. Orange wires are useless.

if you read the link i posted the wire colors are not common and the colors wont just match up
