numerous freinds of mine all went out and bought 200 to 300 dollars head units jsut so they can have there ipod hooked up with out using a fm transmitter. i was wondering how it could be possible to hook up the ipod to a stock unit. someone told me to run rca cables fromt he ipod to the back on the unit is this true? or what else would work?

Its highly unlikely that your stock radio has any extra inputs on it at all, your options are FM transmitter, cassette thingy, or one of those things that hooks up between the radio and the antenna, but i don't know about those really.

Depending on your car, your manufacturer may make a hook up for the back of the stereo, but its likely to cost as much as a new HU. My Chrysler can use a MOPAR Ipod integration kit, but it costs about 170$

Your friends are all spending money on new decks, because it money well spent. You dont have to spend a couple hundred bucks on a deck, you could get a decent name brand deck for around 130 i think, like this alpine:

A dang nice deck for 124$
