I recently got into a car accident that totaled my Accord //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif and now i'm driving a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. I want to install the Amp and Subwoofers from my Honda into the jeep. Anyone know how to do this without replacing the factory head unit?

If it helps there is an AMP under the back seats to power the premium sound system (Infiniti, factory installed) is there anyway to tap into that to get a signal?

Thanks

John

yea. when i did mine, there was plenty of room to the right side of the headunit(kinda to the right and down beside the a/c vent) that you can squeeze it into. i just tapped into the wires that lead to my front door speakers, and ran the RCA's from there so when i finally did put in an aftermarket headunit, they were already ran //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

One more question, if the front door speakers are being powered by the factory head unit then what speakers does the factory amp supply power to???

im not sure, but i think with the infinity system, it powers all the speakers. but mine didnt have the infinity, just goto auto zone and get some "t-taps" to tap into the front speaker wires for the signal, then ur golden

okay, i have a jeep grand cherokee limited, 2000, the same car. I know what you're dealing with , the stock infinity system sucks. Right now your speakers are being powered by the stock amp, not the stock headunit. If you want to install an aftermarket headunit you're going to bypass the amp, this isn't hard but it isn't fun and kind of another pain in the ***, but well worth it because you don't have the stock headunit. So really i'm not sure if you can power an amp through the stock headunit, i would suggest putting an aftermarket HU in, but make sure you leave the purple and yellow wire alone!!! PM me if you need anymore help, also here is a website all about WJ jeeps (our model)
