2000 Silverado With 3sixty...will It Work? Crystal 6.5's?

Hows it goin everyone? (whoever is out there)

bout to do an install on my 2000 silverado ext. cab. I want to keep the stock HU. My buddy told me to use a Rockford 3sixty, so that I can convert to RCA signal, and use my ipod in auxilary. Him and his wife are expecting, and it looks like I'll be doing it myself (daddy duty).

How do I make it work? diagrams for me to hook up the harnesses? what harnesses do I need? thanks!!

P.S. - Going with a Zed Draconia, and Im trying to find Crystal 6.5 components if anyone has em' (cant find them online anymore, or good replacements?)

Dued I will be honest I am rely experienced and it took me 4 days to do that and all the amps and speakers and all. It is not as easy as just installing a new head unit. You can aim me at reimermatt and I can talk you threw it. It is not for beginners I promise you that.

Is it just that you have to go pin by pin thru the harness, to find the right connects, or something else. I have a diagram of all the pins in order from top left to bottom right, with a number/color position on the diagram.

I see you used clean-sweep instead.... is that the same pretty much as 3sixty?

Basically both need a constant power and a switched power and a ground and both hookup to your factory amp. Is there any reason why you rely want to keep the stock head unit?

Also I don't know about the 3sixty but the JL you have to have a volume knob to adjust the volume you cant just use the radio volume.

hhhhmmmm.... my buddy is familiar with it, and he seems pretty confident with it... The biggest reason is Im from miami, and I dont need anyone looking in my truck to see what I got!! other than that, just want to keep the feel and look of the truck. I always think that aftermarkets always look out of place.

But once again, I THINK, i might end up doing it myself... So Im just trying to gather info from anywhere I can get it before I tear up my truck

know much about "no name blow you out of the water" 6.5 speakers? I wanted to get a set of crystals, but I cant find them online anymore....

Well you pay for my plane ticket and my room I will come work on it for you. And do it right. But again I recommend doing a head unit install instead it will sound better and be easier to control.

Also one other thing the sub outputs from the factory amp had there own channel so I had to install a mtx Q to take care of that as well. I dont know if you will have to do the same on yours.

hahahaha!!! I see how it works... A free trip to miami beach and all the honeys during the summer time on summer break!! You're smart!! LOL!! this is really starting to sound more involved than I wanted to get..... What do you recommend for an HU? I was looking at pioneer... they make a 3" unit that will seal the factory hole without an aftermarket bracket and I can use the pioneer Ipod adapter unit. Have any other suggestions?

I prefer alpine I have dealt with both and had more luck with alpine and there quality is better as well.

I've perfomed installs in both my '99 Silverado X-Cab and most recently my '08 Silverado X-Cab when the '99 finally died. NOT for the the faint of heart, no matter what you are doing.

My installs involved new HU, 2 amps, new speakers all around and a custom sub enclosure. 4 Days, minimum on each to do it right and carefully. I'm not a pro, but it takes time and patience.

Also, just remember that the OEM electrical setups in these trucks can sometime be a little tricky. Especially in later models like my '08 that have OnStar, chimes and Bose. Pain in the ***!

You should have used the CL-SSI summing module for the sub output.
